Imagine the Sky – Samantha made this recording with her partner, Phil Thorne, in order to combine pieces from France, Ireland, African and their own compositions, with improvised interludes. The result is a textured, meditative album which honors the variety of sounds found in hammered dulcimer, kantele (Finnish psaltery), silver flute, hand drum, voice and piano. Nature is added to the mix with occasional rain, tree-frog, and loon sounds.
Gift from the River – An album of Celtic music from Ireland, Wales, Brittany, Scotland, and Samantha’s imagination, featuring Sam with her group “Rosetree”, playing harp, Irish flute, guitar, viole da gamba and tar(North African side-drum). Created to pay homage to the Connecticut River where she grew up, this CD also contains several original pieces and a poem from Sam.
(Upcoming Release) – Baluchon, Sam’s new collaboration with two Montreal musicians, announces the release of their first album in the spring of 2007: Anik Paquet, from Chambly, Quebec, is a fiddler who is well-versed in Classical and jazz technique; but her biggest love is the traditional music of Quebec. Guitarist Peter Senn provides rich accompaniment for her and Sam: voices, accordion, dulcimer, flute, fiddle and guitar render Celtic, Quebequois, and pieces from northern New England in a listening experience which is rich in memory, tradition, and most especially, rhythm.
