Traditional Music, Contemporary Style

Samantha Moffatt is a versatile musician whose passion lies in traditional musics and in evocative sound textures. She has studied and collected material from France, Ireland, Quebec, New England, the Caribbean and West Africa. Her home, a gardened, twenty acres in Vershire, Vt., provides the peaceful surroundings which inspire her musical vision, and enable her to compose and arrange on hammered dulcimerchromatic accordionhand drums and voice.

Samantha was invited twice by Garrison Keillor to appear on
A Prairie Home Companion”; she has toured extensively in the U.S., as well as in Canada and Europe, and has performed live on Vermont Public Radio and Radio France.


Samantha has been part of the juried Vermont Arts Council's Artists Roster for twenty years: as such, she performed grant-supported concerts, workshops and school residencies statewide. As a member of three groups as well as a solo performer, Sam has produced three CDs: "Imagine the Sky",and "Stepping Out" and "Gift from the River". and has been a guest performer on four others.

She makes her home in Vershire, Vermont.
